Baptism

The Sacrament of Baptism begins the relationship between a person and Christ. Parents play a crucial role in the education and faith of their children. It is from Mom and Dad that the child will grow in his or her faith.
For this reason, it is essential that the parents be prepared for this wonderful task. There are some important requirements that parents must complete to have their child baptized.
The parents need to be active in the Catholic Faith.They must be registered members of St. Patrick Parish.
They must participate in a one-hour Baptism Preparation class, along with the godparents.If the godparents are not members of St. Patrick or St. Kateri churches, we will need a letter from their pastors stating that they are active, practicing Catholics and registered in their home parish.
Godparents
There is much confusion about who can be a godparent.

To be a godparent the following conditions must be present:

1. The godparent must be an active, practicing Catholic who can participate fully
In the life and worship of the Church.
2. If married, they must be married in the Catholic Church and present a certificate of marriage. If they are just married civilly, they cannot be a godparent.
3. If a man is not married and living with a woman outside of marriage, or a woman living with a man outside of marriage, they may not be godparents
Baptisms are normally celebrated on Saturday Mornings.

El Sacramento del Bautismo comienza la relación entre una persona y Cristo. Los padres juegan un papel crucial en la educación y la fe de sus hijos. Es de mamá y papá que el niño crecerá en su fe.
Por esta razón, es esencial que los padres estén preparados para esta maravillosa tarea. Hay algunos requisitos importantes que los padres deben completar para que su hijo sea bautizado.

Padrinos
Hay mucha confusión acerca de quién puede ser un padrino.

2. Si están casados, deben estar casados en la Iglesia Católica y presentar un certificado de matrimonio. Si están casados civilmente, no pueden ser padrinos.
3. Si un hombre no está casado y vive con una mujer fuera del matrimonio, o una mujer que vive con un hombre fuera del matrimonio, no pueden ser padrinos.
Los bautismos se celebran normalmente los sábados por la mañana.
Reconciliation

Confession times Saturdays 3:30 PM - 4:30 PM or by appointment.
First Communion

1. Requirements for all children preparing to receive a sacrament:
a) Attend a full year of Faith Formation classes (80+% attendance).
c) Regular attendance at Mass on Sundays and Holy Days of Obligation.
d) Be a registered member of St Patrick.
g) Parent attend the parent meeting at the beginning of the school year. (September)
i) The year of the sacrament, parent & child attend two in-person sacramental preparation workshops.
Confirmation

Preparation for Confirmation is a two year journey starting as early as 5th grade for the 1st year and 6th grade for the 2nd year.
Holy Matrimony
"The matrimonial covenant, by which a man and a woman establish between themselves a partnership of the whole of life, is by its nature ordered toward the good of the spouses and the procreation and education of offspring; this covenant between baptized persons has been raised by Christ the Lord to the dignity of a sacrament." CCC 1601
Steps for Marriage preparation at St Patrick
1. Schedule to meet with a priest. Call the parish office to schedule appointment (no less than 6 months before preferred date of wedding).
2. After the couple has met with the priest, contact the parish office to schedule the date of wedding. PLEASE do not set date of wedding before contacting the parish office.
3. Complete the following: The order of these will vary depending on each individual couple’s situation.
  
  Complete all required forms for St. Patrick, Diocese of Baker, home diocese and home parish. At your first meeting, the priest will let you know what required forms are necessary for you.
  
  Obtain a Baptismal Certificate for Bride and Groom. The certificate has to be issued from the parish of baptism within the last 6 months. Request certificates from your church of baptism. Some parishes have an online order form, others take the request over the phone. Parishes can mail directly to St Patrick.
  
  Two witnesses each for the bride and groom will schedule to meet with the priest to give witness.
  
  Complete Sacrament of Marriage Preparation
1. 2nd meeting with the Priest. As soon as your paperwork is all in and ideally no later than 4 months before the wedding date, call the parish office to schedule appointment.
2. Final meeting with the Priest 2-3 weeks before the Wedding. Call the parish office to schedule appointment. Bring your filled out marriage license to this meeting.
Convalidation is for couples who are married outside the Catholic church. Steps for Convalidation preparation at St Patrick are the same as the steps for Marriage Preparation.
